I was first peeved about having to be stuck with a predetermined Sony memory stick format. But after continued use in TRV900, TRV11 handycams and the Sony Clie PDA- I have to say I’m very happy with the memory stick’s flexibility. I usually hate being stuck in a specific company format, but at least Sony did it right.

The transfer rate in the Clie is very rapid. Backing up the entire contents of the Clie takes literally a few seconds. The Clie has a program that allows you RUN programs off of the memory stick. This is not the fastest operating speed, but it is no worse than a Zip drive disk.

The size and reliability is unbeatable. Compared to a San memory card that has lost it’s life after 1 year, the Sony memory sticks have performed flawlessly for pics, data, and application runs. Go for the 64+ MB and up – just like a hard drive, you think a realistic amount is adequate. But once you start shooting and using, you’ll wish you upgraded for the bigger stick.

Whatever you use it in (Sony digital cameras/camcorders, CLIE, etc.) it will serve you well. It will fit whatever you throw at it though getting a fast USB reader or a floppy adapter would make sense when it’s time to download info to your computer. I personally use it for taking and storing photographs (JPEGs) but technically, you could use it for any kind of file format for moving those files between computers, for example. The floppy reader (3x faster than parallel connection…) is my favorite and turns the memory stick into the giant floppy. It’s amazing how tiny the stick is and I heard the 128MB is in the works and coming out soon… Is that why the price is so low lately?

I use the 64 MB Sony Memory Stick in my Sony digital camera and what storage I have! Over 100 pictures, along with a few 60 second videos, as well, I have stored on a 64 MB stick. And so versatile, to change a disk is a snap. So I can keep hundreds of pictures and video clips on a few disks, right with the camera.

This memory Stick is extremelly usefull for me and my family. We have several Sony products(I call ourselves “Sony Freaks”); I can use the same Memory Stick is some of them, like my digital camera or PDA. It is amazing how much data you can record in the MS, and how easy it is to delete in case you need to. I haven’t had a problem so far, and honestly none of my friends had either.
    I recommend this product!!

This product is back ordered and is not even handled by Amazon. They turn the order over to Office Tech, supposely, a part of Office Depot. Amazon doesn’t tell you that they take the cash from your credit card while Office Tech keeps telling you the order is coming sometime in the future. They say you can cancel your order but try to do it. The cancel button doesn’t work and when you send an e-mail to cancel, the reply is your order will be ship sometime in the future. Then they tell you, you can return the order for a full refund.
